Jaffna Mayor at Tamil Terrorist Commemoration
The commemoration of LTTE Tamil terrorists Thileepan Pratheepan, who died following forced to a fast-unto-death for the so-called protest against the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) was held near the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Jaffna under the patronage of Jaffna Mayor and other pro-LTTE Tamil terrorist TNA politicians.
Political members including members of the Tamil National People’s Front commemorated the ex-LTTEr by placing his photograph at his monument where it was constructed before.
Civilians from Kilinochchi, Mullaithivu and Jaffna was brought to the event by Northern Provincial Council politicians.
Thileepan was forced fast unto death by LTTE terrorist leader Prabakaran and Pottu Amman to protest IPKF on September 15, 1987, urging the immediate withdrawal of the Indian Peacekeeping Force (IPKF) from the country.
During the fast LTTE terrorist leader Prabhakaran, who visited him requested him to abandon the fast to gain media attention. However, Thileepan died as he did not abandon the fast as he was dying stage due to his chronic cancer dieses anyway. Thileepan was selected to this fast-unto-death campaign due to his critical state of cancer and his treatments had been stopped by the doctors.
