Search at Kilinochchi campus of Jaffna Uni. and bailed-out pro-LTTE students (to attend so called Tamil Genocide day celebrations)
Police with the support of the Sri Lankan Army carried out search operation on 16 May at the Kilinochchi campus of the Jaffna University. Nearly 600 officers and men from both Police and army took part in the operation.
Officials said that the operation had been conducted to ensure the safety and security of the students and to prevent any extremism acts within the campus.
Meanwhile, the recently arrested three Jaffna University students, including two student leaders on May 09 over alleged attempts to revive the LTTE are being bail out. The Jaffna Magistrate yesterday had gaven them personal bail of Rs 100,000 each pending further investigations.
The Magistrate directed them to appear in court on May 27. This bail impliedly blessed for these pro-LTTE student leaders to attend the so called Tamil genocide day celebration being organized by the students of University of Jaffna, the breeding ground for the Tamil terrorism.
