Result of when Intelligence officers Sent in Prisons to appease the International Community and Pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who is pro-minority making a special statement in Colombo, notes that his government was aware of information regarding a possible terror attack and adequate precautions were not taken to prevent the attack by his government.
While noting that international leaders had reached out to extend their assistance to Sri Lanka, the Premier stated that assistance will be required to ascertain if the terrorists responsible for the attacks received help from overseas.
Responding to a question raised by a journalist Wickremesinghe stated that the Police would release details of the persons responsible for the attack following their investigations but added that according to the information he has received the perpetrators are locals.
Eight individuals have already been taken into custody and that steps have been taken to prevent any further instability in the country.
The 8 explosions that rocked the country have claimed the lives of 218 including 35 foreign nationals.
The letter titled “Information of an alleged plan attack” said the state intelligence services had received information from a foreign intelligence service to the effect that National Thowheed Jamath Leader Mohammed Zahran was about to launch a suicide bomb attack in Sri Lanka targeting famous catholic churches and the Indian High Commission.
In the letter, the DIG requested the concerned authorities to pay attention to the information and to beef up the security provided to VIP personnel and to the locations.
The letter signed by the DIG and dated on April 11 was addressed to a number of key officials in the security services including the Directors of the Ministerial Security Division (MSD), Former Presidents’ Security Division and the Ambassadors Security Division.
