The Tragedy of Betraying the Guardian Deities of the Nation
For 30 years, our heroic tri-forces and police personnel ended the savage brutality of Tamil separatist extremist terrorism and Prabhakaran’s anti-Sinhala genocidal war, and brought freedom to the motherland.
The unwavering commitment and decisive decisions of the commanders of the tri-forces and senior officers greatly contributed to winning this war, and the Tamil separatists were utterly defeated. A large number of heroic war heroes sacrificed their lives for this war; many others became permanently disabled after losing limbs; and they shed their blood for the unitary nature of the motherland.
Yet today, this historic victory has become unbearable for separatists and those who supported them. Many treacherous and anti-national forces, masquerading under Sinhala names and making a living from the Tamil Tiger diaspora, are active in society today. Politically ambitious, utterly ungrateful political movements and NGOs that would betray even their own parents for power have now become politically very powerful.
They are sowing an ideology that belittles this war victory in the minds of the people, and are carrying out despicable and vile acts that degrade war heroes and their gallantry medals, even within the judicial system.
1. The 95% Majority’s Sacrifice and Forgotten Historic Bloodshed
Today, many deliberately forget that the vast majority (nearly 95%) of those who suffered directly, died, were displaced, or lost everything due to this 30-year war were Sinhala Buddhists and children born to Sinhala Buddhist families.
Attacks on Sinhala Buddhist civilization and the Sasana (examples):
– Anuradhapura Sri Maha Bodhi Massacre (1985):
Over 146 innocent devotees, children, and monks observing _sil_ were shot dead by LTTE savages inside the sacred land, the crown jewel of Sinhala Buddhists.
-Aranthalawa Monk Massacre (1987):
In one of the most criminal acts in Sri Lankan history, 33 monks — including young novices aged 10–12 with innocent smiles — were brutally hacked to death.
– Bombing of the Sri Dalada Maligawa (1998):
They launched a suicide truck bomb attack on the Kandy Sri Dalada Maligawa, the symbol of Sinhala Buddhist pride, to destroy our cultural heritage.
Wiping out border villages (a few examples):
Though forgotten by those living off dollars today, we have a history where innocent Sinhala Buddhist farmers and infants sleeping in mud houses in remote villages like Gonagala (1999) and Kebithigollewa (2006) were hacked with machetes, and bombs were placed on buses to kill them. They were driven from their homes and made refugees in camps for decades.
Blood on the battlefield: The overwhelming majority of the 30,000+ war heroes who died or were permanently disabled fighting terrorism were Sinhala Buddhist youths from remote villages, entrusted to Lord Dalada by their parents before being sent to the battlefield.
To completely erase the sacrifice and suffering of this vast majority from current political discourse is not merely unjust — it is a grave insult to the history and rights of the majority people of this country.
2. Current Socio-Political Decline and the Dollar-Funded Ideological War
The separatist forces defeated on the battlefield, and the foreign Tiger-sympathizing diaspora, are now pumping massive financial funds (dollars) into certain political movements, NGOs, and social media networks in this country.
Their sole objective is:
To trivialize heroism as something lamentably insignificant:
By interpreting the historic service of war heroes as mere “human rights violations” or a “racist war,” they seek to destroy the sympathy and respect people hold for war heroes.
Politics devoid of gratitude:
Certain current political leaders, without hesitation, betray national security, intelligence services, and military leadership to suit the needs of external forces that fund them, in order to gain power.
The current form of old betrayals (example):
We have not forgotten how, in 2002, the Millennium City (Digan) intelligence betrayal sacrificed a group of our best intelligence officers to the LTTE. What is happening today is the same, in a new, subtle political form.
3. Hunting the Military Leadership
In such a context, it is very clear that various false accusations are being made, and arrests, detentions, interrogations, and cruel torture are being carried out against the leadership of the tri-forces who risked not only their own lives but also their families’ lives for victory, to satisfy the separatist Tamil diaspora — the dollar funders of their politics.
The case of Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda:
The clearest and most recent example is the arrest and interrogation of Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda — Sri Lanka’s first Admiral who expertly commanded naval power, destroyed terrorist floating arsenals at sea, and marked the turning point of the war — on baseless charges through the Bribery Commission or various legal institutions.
Many who hid under their beds during the war, and who today live freely because of the war heroes, now insult and ridicule those heroes, please the separatist Tamil diaspora, take dollars, and betray the nation and the country.
Hunting national heroes in this way is a subtle strategy to completely kill the courage and patriotism of the younger generation who would step forward for the motherland in the face of any future external threat.
4. A Wake-Up Message to the Entire Nation
This campaign against war heroes, military leadership, and the Sinhala Buddhist heritage is not aimed at just a few individuals. It is a fatal blow to the sovereignty, culture, and future existence of the entire Sri Lankan nation.
What is our ultimate duty?
We ask all Sri Lankans who are grateful, who value the Sinhala Buddhist heritage, and who cherish peace, to wisely identify all forces that betray the motherland for dollar bills and narrow political gain. It is the supreme national responsibility of all of us to step forward on the ideological battlefield today to protect the honor of those heroes who gave their chests for us on the warfront, and to protect the unitary nature of the country!
