UNHRC and EU was not properly briefed on SL situation – Naseby tells President
Lord Naseby has told President Maithripala Sirisena that Geneva-based United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and European Union hadn’t been properly briefed of the wartime situation in Sri Lanka as well as post-war reconciliation process carried out by his previous government where Sirisena was the Deputy Defence Minister ta the later part of the war. Lord Naseby has told Sirisena that Sri Lanka’s post-war reconciliation process was much better than when compared with such processes carried out by other countries. The war with LTTE Tamil terrorists brought to end successful in May 2009 by the government lead by Mahinda Rajapaksa .
President Sirisena is in a visit to UK to attend Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Sources reported that Sirisena is with a jumbo team of 150 people majority of them are no aware of what is Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Sources reported that Lord Naseby, who continuously challenging the several bogus figures of death count in the war with Tamil terrorists had expressed his concerns to Sirisena the UNHRC and European Union weren’t adequately briefed.
In October 2018 Lord Naseby urged UK government to intervene on behalf of Sri Lanka in Geneva after having briefed the UK parliament as regards the ground situation on the war front in Sri Lanka during the period of January to May 2009. Based on the messages dispatched British High Commission.Lord Naseby had furnished all relevant documents to Geneva as the UK government is not taking up the issue at the UNHERC but playing cheap political game to secure Tamil votes. According to messages dispatched by the British High Commission and LTTE Terrorits Taminet web site the maximum number of dead in the later part of the were about 7,000 to 8,000 and one fourth of them are LTTE Tamil terrorists.
For the first time in the UN history; a government supported to a UN Resolution against their own government. The pro-minority federalist Sirisena-Wickremesinghe government in October 2015 co-sponsored US led Resolution 30/1 against Sri Lanka to prosecute their own soldiers while US and UK immunes their soldiers for any acts in the war field.
It is a fact that the pro-Tamil federalist Sirisena-Wickremesinghe government had refused to at least to refer to Lord Naseby’s disclosure at the UNHRC sessions in Geneva.
Global Sri Lankan Forum, the only credible civil society who is fighting for the justice for Sri Lanka in the UNHRC submitted several number of defence statements and publications to High Commissioner of the UNHRC discrediting so called on sided fact finding by UNHRC; http://www.sinhalanet.net/in-defence-of-the-armed-forces-of-sri-lanka-volume-one, http://www.sinhalanet.net/in-defence-of-the-armed-forces-of-sri-lanka-volume-two.
