UNP Working with US to Destabilize the Country

A government Minister and National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa has accused the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ms. Michele J. Sison is  working  with the UNP leadership to destabilize the country. Weerawansa claimed that the UNP leadership through some UNP members in Island wide have recruited over 5000 youth to carry out a social media campaign against the present Government and security forces and its war heroes  organized by US Embassy in Colombo. These youth who have been recruited by the Embassy via UNP are being paid for the social media campaign against the Sri Lankan Security forces who defeated the LTTE Tamil terrorists form the Island.

The Minister said that UNP Parliamentarians have the list of the youth recruited by the US Embassy for the campaign.

“When people respond to the posts published by those used in the campaign the public will assume most people are against the Government,” he said.

Weerawansa said that the ultimate goal of the US envoy in Colombo is to do what the US did some Middle Eastern countries. UNP and its leadership has been sub-contracted that task to carry out in local grass-root level.

He insisted the aim of the US Embassy is not to point out the mistakes of the Government and help it rectify those mistakes but rather destabilize the entire country
