Defence Seminar – 2014

‘Defence Seminar- 2014’, Sri Lanka Army’s international defence conference will be held from August 18th to 20th at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo. Held under the theme “Sri Lanka: Challenge to a Rising Nation” the international conclave will see a host of local and foreign delegates share and discuss on thematic issues relating to Sri Lanka’s post war recovery and diverse challenges facing the nation in its march towards becoming the wonder of Asia.

A press briefing in this regard was held last evening presided by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake.

Number of eminent speakers are scheduled to address the distinguished gathering including Dr. Subramanian Swami, Ms. Mariam Safi, Mr. Patryk Kugiel, Prof. Rwekaza S Mukundala, Dr. Tan Siew Mun and Dr. Yeo Lay Hwee. In addition Minister of External Affairs, Prof. GL Peiris, Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Presidential Secretary Mr. Lalith Weerathunga, Treasury Secretary Dr. PB Jayasundara and Governor of the Central Bank Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal are also expected deliver speeches.
This year over 195 foreign participants, 35 Defence Attach‚s and more than 40 diplomats from 66 countries are expected to attend this forum which has carved a niche for its self in the international defence conference circuit
