Survey on those who lost property in North

Survey on those who lost property in North The Defence and Urban Development Ministry is conducting a survey on Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims who lost their property/land in the Northern Province from 1980 due to terrorism. All Sri Lankan citizens who have lost their property/land are requested to submit details and forward such information to the Defence and Urban Development Ministry at 15/5, Baladaksha Mawatha, Colombo 3.

The application shall include;

  • The name,
  • address,
  • telephone
  • email address,
  • Grama Seva/Divisional Secretary’s Division
  • district of the complainant
  • the details of the land such as (i) address, (ii) names of the occupants, (iii) year of dispossession/displacement, (iv) Grama Seva/Divisional Secretary’s Division and (v) the photocopies of the supporting documents if any should be submitted.

the Defence and Urban Development Ministry Media Centre stated in a press release.

The press release added that complaints from property/land issues settled will not be accepted.

The properties of nearly 40,000 Sinhalese in Northern province lost due to the LTTE during 30 years of Tamil terrorism.
