National Flag is “Lion Flag”

Hoisting of Sinhale Flag by Swarna  Hansa at Magul Maduwa premises of Dalada Maligawa, Mahanuwara , seen as a mischievous act of Sinhala Extremists , soon turned out to be an issue of National interest when people began to display it at public gatherings challenging the existing threat to the Sinhala Nation.

Tamils and Muslims the so called minorities created by the British Colonials disturbed by the comeback of the Sinhala Flag in order to prevent it gaining further popularity, immediately shot back saying, that it is a distorted version of the National Flag of the country, and it is an act of dishonoring the National Flag and  meant to create divisions, and disharmony in the Nation. Their so called Sinhala counterparts, who are mortally afraid of distancing themselves from minority votes also joined them to state that it was unintended mistake on their part to display the Flag without stripes and they would apologize for it, if they are hurt.

Meanwhile those separatists and their Sinhala counterparts wanted legal action taken for alleged   distortion of national Flag. The administrative as well as judicial machinery was activated. Mass Propaganda was given to the made up story that National Flag is distorted and creating racial disharmony in the country. However later it was understood it is not the case, the Sinhale Flag is the original National Flag of the country and  the present National Flag is a different one. In fact it has been made out of the original Sinhale Flag. Apparently the present National Flag is the distorted flag. It is the truth, It is the present National Flag that creates divisions.  The present National Flag, has actually promoted divisions in the Nation. Adding two strips to the Sinhale Flag is undoubtedly an act of compartmentalizing the Nation. It was totally treacherous to add two strips to the National Flag ensuring ownership of the country to two other races. It certainly creates disunity in the Nation. . That is what one member of the National Flag Committee, Senator.S. Nadesan stated in his dissent report . He has categorically stated that proposed stripes does not help achieve the noble requirement of unity of the Nation. Instead it would certainly destroy that unity. He stated.
