Sirisena Pardons LTTE Tamil Terrorists While Death Sentencing Rana Viruvo
Widely believed to be pro-minority mind set Maithripala Sirisena pardoned a LTTE Tamil terrorist Genevan who had been accused of conspiring to kill Sirisena 10 years ago. Jenivan was arrested in 2005 in a passenger bus leaving Sirisena’s hometown of Polonnaruwa.
Genevan, trained LTTE Tamil terrorist for suicide missions spent 10 years in detention pending judgment and was convicted last year of being an accomplice to a terrorist who was planning to assassinate Sirisena. He was sentenced to a further 10 years in prison.
Since taking office, Sirisena has taken steps to release scores of LTTE Tamil terrorists who are serving of prison terms and who are under arrest of PTA.
Further, pro-minority government lead by Ranil and Sirisena provided government funds as relief to LTTE Tamil terrorists.
At the same time Ranil and Sirisena pledged to investigate allegations that government troops committed war crimes and sentenced number of government soldiers since they came to power in 8th Jan. 2015.
