Let’s denounce the Sri Lankan Independence Day Message made by the Honourable Prime Minister

On February 4th 2016, the honourable Prime Minister of Sri Lanka making his message for the 68th official Independence Day celebrations referred to the liberty established after the January 8th victory of the present Government. This statement of the Prime Minister is not only to gain low political clout, but also to cover the naked truth, meaning the devious low and vengeful ways by which they brain washed the general Sri Lankan voter to trigger the downfall of a strong Government voted in since independence of February 4th 1948, which in fact had destroyed “the unbeatable” terrorist movement as professed by the Western media.

From the time of the Presidential election and up to the general election of 2015 the Western Tamil Diaspora supported propaganda machine set up  to crush the so called “Mahinda Rajapaksa Regime” churning out derogatory remarks and also promising to expose and eliminate the dictatorial regime, corruption, fraud, illegal mega deals, ‘golden  horses’ and super luxury Lamborghini cars. More importantly. the leaders of the present political set-up, craftily  made these statements in the South while conversing in the North and East made anti national proclamations like dividing the country and hunting down our national war heroes who in fact fought and defeated the ‘Tiger’ at the great risk to their lives. (Now that these people are in power the threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka seems to be a reality.).

Although more than a year has passed, the majority of the people in the South have not gained anything worthwhile through the promised good governance nor have they seen the exposure of any of these fraudulent mega deals. The Tamil leaders, especially those who were supporting the LTTE Tamil terrorists in the North and East seem to be pampered well and looked after well which compels the people in the South to be more disgruntled and discontented.

The ‘politickkas’ who came into power promising everything under the Sun including the dismantling of the ‘dictatorial Rajapaksa regime’, instead of delivering same have joined the corruption band wagon. At present, the dictates pf the Government party in creating disarray among the opposition group in the parliament and appointing former politicians who had been rejected by the people to high ministerial posts indeed are very devious and questionable ways. In addition, the infamous and the  fraudulent mega treasury bond deal ,the vengeful destruction of the million dollar income Avant Garde company, the super luxury Prado vehicle deal, the releasing of container loads of dry arecanut (karunka) and copper from the customs, completes the Yaha Palanya story. The earlier accusations of handing over contracts to unqualified contractors have been repeated by the present government because the very same accusers have given new contracts to the very same accused contractors with changes in quality standards for very much bigger amounts worth millions and millions of rupees which surpasses the mega deals the previous government was accused of. The doling  out the jobs as well as other deals to members in their family circles in the government and semi government sectors have increased beyond expectations making bribery and corruption very common in these two sectors during the past year.

Threatening the media quite openly, disregarding the fact that a free media is an essential part in any democracy, points to the fact that state terrorism and dictatorial rule are rapidly increasing. The present government which came in to power marketing ‘good governance’ has come down to the lowest rung of the good governance ladder by immediately releasing or giving bail to party members, supporters or even be female MP’s when they are accused of grave unbailable crimes like kidnapping etc. But, when a person opposed to the  government is accused of any crime, big or small, the  so called good governance regime would not hesitate even for a moment to keep the doors of any relevant court open even on holydays or after the sun has gone down to legally (so it may seem) get the judges to order the accused to be sent to the Remand Prison! This type of action makes any and all honest, impartial and intelligent citizens to think twice about the truthfulness and the sincerity of the announcements which this government makes from time to time.

When officially and unofficially some Western countries like USA, England, Norway and even India have officially accepted the fact that they were behind the downfall of the previous government, agreeing to take arbitrarily decisions to hold hybrid judiciaries so that they can easily convict and sentence war heroes with non-existent or built-up war crimes, arbitrarily folding-up high security zones in the North without any prior or proper consultations with the Armed forces, shamelessly naming and condemning intelligent personnel in the Armed forces is high watermark of  cowardly and nauseating truth about this so called good governance regime which brings back the memories of  the tragic events that led to  the exposure of the undercover Army operations in the Millennium City incident  by a Minister in the present government.

Accordingly, “the great victory and freedom of January 8th” of the present regime is a story of harping about nothing but the repeat of the hypocritical blabbering of a so called intellectual who acted as the harbinger to get the good governance clique together, who proclaimed “the post-colonial Sri Lankan Sinhala Buddhist hegemonic political and ruling power should be destroyed” is no doubt very clear.

Therefore the message of the present Prime Minister at the 68th Independence Day celebration is nothing but a very disgusting speech which we condemn wholeheartedly remembering the party he led lost the elections twenty nine times! On the 30th occasion, because of a very diabolical coup, though he came into power the Batalanda commission has expressly declared that the present Prime Minister is very clearly responsible for the death or disappearance of over sixty thousand men, women and Buddhist monks in the infamous Batalanda torture chamber and in forty eight other smaller chambers mainly in the southern part of Sri Lanka during the dark years of 1988/1989.
