Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and JVP Government

Today in Parliament, Dilith Jayaweera brought a special adjournment motion.

There, the entire opposition discussed the extremely uncivilized act done by the Malima government to the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand who visited Sri Lanka recently.

Thailand is a very special country to Sri Lanka. It is a Kalyana Mitra state of Buddhist Sri Lanka.

In short, the Sinhala Buddhist was not isolated in the world because of Thailand.

Islamic countries have friends in the world. Catholic countries have friends.

The one and only special friend of a Sinhala Buddhist state is Thailand. If not for Thailand, our Buddha Sasana would have already been destroyed.

The Deputy Prime Minister of that special, Kalyana Mitra state that is so special to Sri Lanka came recently.

She who arrived at Katunayake went to Mihintale in an ordinary tourist bus.

The public representatives of the Malima government were not present to welcome her. She was not given special diplomatic security.

This is the Deputy Prime Minister of a friendly state of Sri Lanka. Why did that happen?

Because she is a leader of a Buddhist state. She is a friend of the Sinhala Buddhists of Lanka. She came to enshrine the pinnacle of a Buddhist stupa in Sri Lanka.

A large donation was received from the Thai government for the pinnacle of the Mihindu Stupa in Mihintale. Even this Deputy Prime Minister’s personal money was among it.

This is how the Malima government behaves when a state leader of a Buddhist country comes to a Buddhist shrine in Sri Lanka.

They intentionally acted in a way that would make Buddhist Thailand disheartened about Sri Lanka and its people.

They acted in a planned manner so that a state leader who has given a lot of special help to Sri Lanka would intentionally not think of helping this country and its Buddhist people again.

Just think.

If in some way a leader of an Arab country came for a work of an Islamic mosque, a Hindu leader came for a work of a Hindu temple, a representative of a Christian country came for a work of a Christian church, how would the Malima government behave?

If so, those diplomats would get the highest welcome. Anura or Vijitha personally would go to welcome them.

Flags are put on both sides of the road. Media is gathered. Dancers are employed. That news becomes the national news of the country.

That is what it means when they say Buddhism is being destroyed under the Malima government.

Otherwise, it is not allowing the Perahera to be held in the way the Malwathu Nayaka Thero thinks.

Touching the Perahera is a work that is at the very end of a very long-term plan.

It is because of the things done to pave the way for it that today Buddhists and Buddhist monks in the country say that the Malima government is destroying Buddhism.

Because Buddhism is allergic to Malima, no diplomatic patronage is given when a leader of a Buddhist country arrives.

Because Buddhism is allergic to Malima, a state leader who comes to open a stupa in Mihintale does not receive VIP security.

The other day a Hindu priest came to Lanka from India.

Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Deputy Minister Ruwan Ranasinghe both participated to welcome him.

Special security was provided for him.

Not only that.

The helicopter reserved for the President of the Sri Lanka Air Force was given to this priest.

The money spent on that helicopter is your and my tax money.

Is this a state leader?

No! A Hindu priest from India.

He came to Sri Lanka to worship a series of Hindu temples in Sri Lanka (Ramayana Trail).

The Malima government gave him the highest welcome and security.

But the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand does not have such security.

That is what it means to harm Buddhism. Not for anything else.

However, we as Buddhists should be thankful that two former presidents of this country and opposition leaders participated in that occasion and gave her some honor.

Otherwise, Malima’s plan was to break the heart of a Buddhist country that gave us Upasampada, that gives pinnacles worth crores, with Sri Lanka, and to internationally isolate the Sinhala Buddhist in this country.
