Shame on Nobel Peace Prize – 2026
The Nobel peace prize just went to a woman who has been criticised throughout her career at the UNHRC from many sectors for her one-sided and biased attitude.
Tamil origin, Navi Pillay’s work on the Rwanda tribunal was real, and it mattered. That is exactly why what came after should trouble anyone who takes international law seriously.
Her record on Sri Lanka did not start with UNHRC. As UN human rights chief, she must be impartial and professional. However, her dealing was not that so. Her privately ran NGO continuously attacked the Sri Lankan security forces, Sri Lankan Sinhala politicians. However, Pillay was careful not to attack too much on LTTE Tamil terrorists for their war crimes and Tamil politicians who promotes and lobbying the LTTE Tamil Terrorism not only in Sri Lanka but all over the world.
Pillay is after Sri Lanka for so called genocide. She has gone on records and saying, without any solid justifications that Sri Lankan security forces killed more than 145,000 Tamil civilians. Simply because she is a Tamil origin she cannot take the whole UN system for his one-sided and biased stance which is unprofessional and unethical practice by a head of any institutions. Genocide requires proof of intent to destroy a people. War crimes required solid proof. However, for Pillay it is a matter of words.
Now look at the institutions that actually have to meet a legal standard. The prosecutor of the International human rights champions, sought warrants for war crimes and crimes against humanity for Sri Lankan security forces members who wiped out the world’s deadliest terrorist group called LTTE which is banned by many countries globally.
Much of the American press spent the morning on whether Trump got snubbed. That is the smallest story here. The Nobel committee just put the world’s most famous moral seal on a verdict from a judge who had picked her one-sided side long before the inquiry began based on her origin which biased.
