A winning strategy for Buddhists globally

When Buddhists win at high end International Competitions whether at the Olympics or Miss World contests or any other high profile global event the stature of both the Religion i.e., Buddhism, and the followers i.e., Buddhists, rises exponentially.

The world admires winners not losers. Nor those who sit on the fence. Victory brings great outcomes not only for the individual and his or her country but also for her religion i.e., Buddhism.

The entire Buddhist world must give a standing ovation to the new Miss World 2025, Ms Opal Suchata Chuangsri.

Sri Lanka and Thailand are both Theravada Buddhist countries.

If Sri Lanka can give great welcoming receptions to Cricketers from non – Buddhist countries why cannot we do the same for a Buddhist Venus from Thailand, a fellow Buddhist country?

We must learn to celebrate the success and achievements of Buddhists in fellow Buddhist countries.

It will lead to the strengthening of relationships between Sri Lanka and Thailand and furthermore enhance the taste for beautiful things which in the words of the poet Keats are a ‘ joy for ever’.
