Army Officer Paid Rs 2mn to Family of LTTE Tamil Terrorists
Major Wimal Wickramage, formerly attached to the Pt. Pedro Army camp had to pay yesterday Rs. 2,000,000 as compensation to the nearest relative of deceased LTTE Tamil terrorist Robert Wellington plus a fine of Rs. 10,000 as a fine.
The LTTE Tamil terrorist, Robert Wellington was shot on or about October 26, 1998, when he tried to escape from an army camp by climbing the wall of the camp. The Major was indicted on a charge of shooting and killing a LTTE Tamil terrorist by Sri Lankan court under the Yahapalana pro-minority government lead by Sirisena and Federalist Ranil.
The Major was further convicted on August 31, 2016 with two years of rigorous imprisonment suspended for 10 years.
Considering pathetic circumstance prevailing in the Sri Lanka under the Yahapalana Government against the security forces members who fought against the LTTE Tamil terrorists, the fund of Rs 2 million for the compensation and fine were raised by the patriotic Sri Lankan public voluntarily while no such compensations paid to Sinhala people by LTTE or its proxy TNA due Tamil terrorists attacks.
