Christian Church against “Sinhale” – Mano Ganeshan’s Ministry

Cardinal Malcom Ranjith denouncing the ‘Sinhale’ group as ‘very divisive’ has said attempts to divide is totally unacceptable at a time when there should be total focus on uniting the people

The Cardinal expressed these views when a delegation from the National Integration and Reconciliation Ministry led by State Minister A.H.M.Fowzie called on the Cardinal at the Archbishop House on Friday. This ministry has been set up by the federalist mind set government to brainwash the patriotic general public towards the Federalism.  To achieve this objective the ministry is conducting workshops to governments’ servants and executives to brainwash their minds to promote the separatism through the Federalism.  Meeting pro-Federalism religious leaders and taking pro-federalism press statements and denouncing the nationalism is part of this campaign by the Ministry lead by pro-LTTE minister Mano Ganeshan.

The Cardinal also said the ‘Sinha le’ campaign reminded him of the ‘anti-Sri’ campaign in the 1950s where the Tamils in the North demanded to substitute the Tamil letter ‘Sri’ on vehicle number plates instead of the Sinhala letter ‘Sri’, to which the people in the South opposed.

The Cardinal said all schools must adopt trilingual policy.

The delegation hasincluded ministry Secretary Dr. M. Ganeshamoorthy, State Ministry Secretary M.M. Zuhair PC and Additional Secretary J.A.K Jayatunge.
