Ex-LTTE Tamil Terrorists Attacked Policemen in Jaffna?
A armed gang, presumably ex-LTTE Tamil terrorists with swords and clubs yesterday afternoon attacked two police officers near Nandavil Amman kovil in the Kopay area, causing severe injuries to them.
The attackers had come on motorcycles. The wounded policemen, identified as Surendran, a Tamil and Dhammika, a Sinhalese were admitted to the Jaffna Hospital. The motor cycle attackers had fled the area and the police had been failed to capture them so far. There had been a spate of incidents in the Jaffna peninsula since the second week of July with mobs causing damage to police post, a house belonging to a policeman in Nelliady besides the killing of a police sergeant near the Nallur kovil. Recently attacked to Navy officers who arrested illegal sand dealers.
Since, 8th Jan. 2015, from the date of so called Yahapalana government came to power Tamil terrorism flavored violence are being increased day by day due to total failure of security situation and military intelligence network within Jaffna peninsula unlike previous government period.
Following are the few incidents in which attacked to the security forces by Tamils in Jaffna similar to very early days of LTTE Tamil terrorists;
In spite of the Special Task Force (STF) presence in the peninsula, mobs went on the rampage causing damage to police property following the death of a Tamil man due to police firing at a truck which transporting illegally mined sand. Although two officers had been arrested in connection with incidents in the Kankesanthurai police area so far about six Tamils who travelled in the canter had been failed to arrest by the police.
A Tamil thugs caused severe damage to the house in Nelliady belonging to policemen who had been in duty at the killing scene of the illegal sand transportation by the Tamils.
In the Kankesanthuraya police division, those who had been engaged in sand mining had attacked Coast Guard patrol off Point Pedro and damaged to their materials and properties.
Police sergeant died of gunshot injuries he received during a brawl close to Nallur temple.
Yahapalana Government has instructed Jaffna Security Forces headquarters not to intervene in law and order ‘situations’ under any circumstances without government instruction in order to maintain the so called “Sanhidiyawa” and “Sahajeewanaya”.
