Gatembe prelate calls for defeating 20-A
The prelate of Getambe Rajopawanaramay Ven. Keppetiyagoda Siriwimala Nayake Thera says the attempts to abolish the executive presidency are unwarranted.
The pro-UNP and TNA JVP’s motion to abolish the Executive Presidency should be defeated in Parliament, the Thera has said in a media statement.
The move to introduce a new Constitution was initiated by the pro-LTTE Tamil terrorists groups operating overseas together with a group dollar-drive NGOs in locally bent on dividing the country. They were working according to a hidden agenda to crate the Tamil eelam through the Federalism, the Nayake Thera has said.
Ven. Siriwimala Thera says those who seek to abolish the executive presidency and vest the executive powers in the Prime Minister have an ulterior motive.
The prelate has observed that the economy is deteriorating due to mismanagement and the divestiture of state assets. He calls for reversing this trend and strengthening the economy.
