Sri Lanka Navy has released the Tamil Maha Vidyalaya in Sampoora in Trincomalee district to the public due to heavy pressure exerted by pro-LTTE Tamil terrorist’s political party TNA, coalition partner of pro-minority government lead by Ranil and Sirisena and as a part of pre-election pact with minority Tamil parties.

Navy stated that it will be enabled hundreds of Tamil children in the area to continue with their educational activities unhindered.

The school which is situated inside a High Security Zone, and the lands which are strategically important and occupied by the Navy were released upon instruction of President Sirisena.

The Naval training center established in Sampoor in 2007, which was subsequently commissioned as SLNS Vidura in 2013 as Navy Training College was removed by the present government as a part of political pact with the TNA.

Government so far has released 60 acres of land  out of 237 acres which was used by SLNS Vidura and the remaining 177 acres were released 25th  March 2016.

The Sampoor naval base which was strategically located to protect Trinco habour was also shifted to a new location by the present government. Sources reported that this move may undermine the national security.

Although, government is releasing Tamil’s schools and Tamil’s lands, the government has grossly overlooked and neglected to address the same issue of  Sinhalese by providing necessary welfare to internally displaced Sinhalese.

Sinhalese in Jaffna are demanding to release the Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya since the Yahapanala government came to power on 8th January 2015. While Prime Minister and President visiting Jaffna frequently to overseas the welfare of Tamils no attention had been paid to re-open the Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya in Jaffna or have not been able to look after the welfare of the Sinhala people who are living in North and East. These Sinhala people are subject to the frequent harassments by Pro-LTTE TNA politicians and Tamil government officials since this government came to power.
