Is Free Palestine Activism Pro-LTTE Tamil Terrorists?
The Nationalist notes with concern that some individuals aligned with the Free Palestine movement in Sri Lanka have recently been seen positioning themselves around controversial and nationally sensitive sites. These are disputed spaces connected to the Tri-Forces, the war victory, and the eradication of terrorism.
Let this be said clearly: this is a grave mistake. By standing in these sites, activists risk directing suspicion toward the armed forces, undermining the government, and entangling the Palestine cause with domestic disputes that do not belong to it.
The Free Palestine movement is not Islam-centric — it is humanity-centric. Its credibility lies in representing justice for an oppressed people, not in inserting itself into contested local histories. Sri Lanka has its own mechanisms, its own inquiries, and its own responsibilities. Let the government and institutions handle these matters.
Activists who genuinely care for Palestine must guard the integrity of the movement. You cannot call for justice abroad while creating division at home. The discipline required is simple: stand for humanity, avoid nationally sensitive disputes, and never let your presence be weaponized against Sri Lanka’s sovereignty.
The Nationalist makes this position clear: focus on Palestine, stand with humanity, and do not weaken the unity of this nation.
