Israel blocked Entry of UNHRC and Sri Lanka to Follow
Israel had cut working relation with the UNHRC and blocked UN team entering Israel for a planned investigation on Human Rights status of Israel and occupied lands of Palestine in 2012. UN council voted to send a fact-finding team to Israel to investigate settlement of constructions. Israel accused the UN council of having a pronounced anti-Israel bias because of its disproportionate focus country specific; on Israel.
In the similar manner, Sri Lanka will also not cooperate with a United Nations inquiry into alleged war crimes by government forces and LTTE Tamil Tiger terrorists in the final phase of the 26-year war against Tamil terrorists, foreign minister said. The UN, through a United States-led resolution, last month set an international inquiry into the alleged war crimes and so called human rights abuses during the war against global war with LTTE Tamil terrorists.
Sri Lankan government has rejected the allegations. Foreign Minister G. L. Peiris said the government had not accepted the one sided country specific pro-LTTE UN investigations due to concerns over its legality, fairness, and some conflict of interest issues in the so called resolutions.
