LTTE Tigress Needs Proper Rehabilitation – MoD
Sri Lankan Defence Ministry is seriously considering recommending Northern Provincial Council (NPC) member Ex-LTTE Tamil terrorist, Ananthi Sasitharan be rehabilitated to prevent her from propagating terrorism and separatist sentiments within Sri Lanka and outside the Island. She is a coalition partner of Pro-LTTE TNA by representing another Tamil political party; Illankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi.
Defence Ministry source reported that those who hadn’t been arrested/surrendered at the conclusion of the LTTE terrorist war in May 2009 missed the rehabilitation project conducted by the government. Ananthi, a wife of LTTE Tamil terrorist leader was among those who had avoided rehabilitation , source adding that a decision would be made soon about her violent and separatism activities .
Sinnathurai Sivakumar alias Elilan, husband of Ananthi was in charge of LTTE activities Eastern city of Trincomalee. The Defence Ministry alleged that Sivakumar had been masquerading as a political activist during the Norwegian arranged Ceasefire Agreement (CFA).
Ananthi has briefed the Ambassador Stephen J. Rapp giving wrong picture of Sri Lanka and has demanded to proceute Sri Lank an leaders for alleged war crimes in the process of eliminating terrorism form Sri Lanka. Ananthi was supported by catholic Bishops from Jaffna and Mannarama.
Since her election to the NPC, Ananthi toured Canada, the US, India, Germany, Denmark and Norway, where she met government officials and LTTE activists to propagate terrorism, separatism, and fund raising activities.
Asked whether the government was planning to hunt for those who had managed to avoid rehabilitation, the official said perhaps Ananthi wouldn’t have adopted such a hostile stance towards the Sri Lankan if she had undergone rehabilitation. Sri Lankan government has released over 11,000 ex-LTTE terrorist cadres following rehabilitation over past four years.
Sri Lankan government was of the opinion that Ex-LTTE terrorist member Ananthi would continue to undermine post-war reconciliation and peace process unless she underwent rehabilitation.
