MADU TEMPLE KATINA PINKAMA – first time after the end of LTTE Tamil Terrorism
After end of the LTTE Tamil terrorism in Sri Lanka a Katina pinkama had been held for the first time in the Buddhist temple in Mannarama district of Northern Sri Lanka. Sri Bodhiraja Maha Viharaya in Madu had conducted the Katina Pinkama on 11th October 2017. The procession has started at 3.00am on 11th morning consisting villages, security forces members and visitors.
The procession first proceeded towards Madawachchiya in order to cover the Buddhist houses located in the area and then back to the temple covering a total of around 4.5 km. The procession had reached the temple at 5.45am and the Katina Chivaraya was presented to the temple, which end the first part of the Pinkama.
Numbers of Ven. theros from various temples in the country had participated to this historical Katina Pinkama in Madu temple. The Chief thero from Talaya Mannarama also participated to the pinkama.
