MR is UN’s ‘Chief Guest’ – HR Traders are worry!
The United Nations Country Team in Sri Lanka recently held a special virtual event to commemorate the world body’s 75th birthday. It was a slap in the face for many Human Right traders like Human Right Watch, Amnesty International, pro-LTTE local and international NGOs for their bogus and fake campaigns of so-called war crimes and genocides allegations against Sri Lanka.
Mahinda Rajapaksa, was invited as the UN event’s “Chief Guest,” Rajapaksa is a national hero as the president during the final part of the war with Tamil terrorists and who finished the LTTE Tamil terrorism from Sri Lanka after 30 years of Tamil terrorism and separatism.
The current government, led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, is now redefining the post-war reconciliation imposed by UN Human Rights Council resolutions in 2015 which was co-sponsored by then Yahapalana government lead by Sajith Premadasa and Ranil Wickramasinghe. According to Gotabaya, any reconciliation mechanisms would follow the Sri Lanka way and in line with the Sri Lankan Constitution. Sri Lanka have withdrawn from the one sided UNHRC Resolutions no. 30/1 and 401 passed against Sri Lanka during the UNHRC Session in March 2020 in Geneva.
HR traders are overly worried on the progress of Sri Lanka. They raised media hype over the capable military officers who were appointed to some selected civilian positions based on their past merits for the development of the country.
HR business leaders with the help of pro-LTTE Diaspora in the UNHRC banned Gen. Shavendra Silva, commander of the Sri Lankan army. His appointment prompted the UN to ban Sri Lankan army troops from non-essential roles in peacekeeping missions. However, the ban becomes almost meaningless as no country or Sri Lanka honor for country specific biased actions taken by the UNHRC.
