Northern people not interested in Federalism – Constitutional Reforms Committee, but the TNA and Ranil

People of the northern province are not interested in federalism, says Chairman, Constitutional Reforms Committee, Lal Wijenayake.

Addressing the media yesterday at Visumpaya’ Wijenayake said according to a study his outfit had conducted, it was only the northern politicians who were keen on a federal solution.

He said the majority of northerners endorsed a unitary Sri Lanka.

The Chairman said many women in the north faced serious issues owing to the thesawalami law as their husbands had gone missing and they were not in a position to write their properties in the name of their children.

However, pro-LTTE Tamil terrorist political party TNA and pro-minority Ranil and Sirisena are promoting Federalism which would ultimately leading to a monolithic Tamil separatists state called eeelam.
