Over 300 Ex-LTTE Terrorists to contest in General Election
A group of former Tamil terrorists of the now defunct LTTE terrorist’s is exploring the possibility of contesting the upcoming general election. They are expected to hold a special meeting in Jaffna on 3rd July to discuss their entry into politics to promote the separatism in political mode following failure of terrorism.
Former Uthayan Editor N. Vithyatharan, who had been closely associated with the late LTTE terrorist leader Anton Balasingham, has informed to the media that the former LTTE terrorist of the LTTE had expressed their intention of entering the political at the forthcoming general election. Vithyatharan is coordinating with the ex LTTE terrorists. According to them all of them have been rehabilitated after they surrendered to the Security Forces at the end of the war in May 2009. According to him, meeting of the ex-LTTE terrorists and their sympathizers would be crucial, in terms of deciding their future political moves.
The Outcome of today’s meeting is expected to be announced at a press briefing in Jaffna on Sunday. Sources are reporting nearly 300 ex-LTTE terrorists who were handling the political activities of the LTTE in various parts of the North and East two provinces, have now come forward to enter the politics in the backdrop of the general election.
At the same time pro-LTTE political party TNA upon receiving of news of formation of this new LTTE political party had decided to file their nomination outside of the North and East two provinces for the first time. TNA is planning to file nomination in Colombo, Gampaha, Rathnapura, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya targeting Indian origin estate Tamils and Tamils who living in other districts.
