Say ‘No’ to any proposals to change the cultural fabric of Sri Lanka

A culturally rootless expatriate of Sinhala origin has suggested the identity of the Sinhala and Tamil New year be replaced by the term ‘ Sri Lankan New Year’ for the purpose of forging national unity. To bring all components of the population diverse as they are under one banner of celebration.

This is based on the logic of Appeasement of Minorities.
It was the very same premise of ‘Appeasement and Reconciliation with Minorities’ – a cardinal plank of the Yahapalana Govt that made the Security forces drop their guard and under perform in the discharge of their duties of protecting the country from ruthless terrorism.
With their guard down and not wanting to be accused of undermining ‘ Reconciliation ‘ and in turn lose the patronage of the politicians and the perks that go with it, there was negligence and default leading to the commission of the Civilizational crime of the century in Sri Lanka. Eight suicide bombers including the Mastermind ( Mahamolakaru) from the same group killed 268 innocent people on the very first day. The USA Government has now identified Zahran Hashim as the Mastermind.

Reconciliation is based on the false assumption that the Sinhala Buddhists being the majority of Sri Lanka are accountable for every wrongdoing and every tragedy in the country since the grant of independence in 1948. Therefore they the Sinhala Buddhists must pay for the alleged wrongs. The payment must be extracted in terms of sacrifice of the cultural symbols and cultural identity of the Sinhala Buddhists.

The Cultural Rights of the Sinhalese are also Fundamental Rights.

The Fundamental Rights are justiciable because when violated any aggrieved individual can move the courts for their enforcement. The Supreme Court or High Courts have the power to issue directions or orders or writs for the enforcement of any of the Fundamental Rights.
