SJP Presented Proposals for the Constitution

The Sinhaladeepa Jathika Peramuna, SJP has compiled a set of proposals that are need to be incorporated to the new Constitution of Sri Lanka. The core features of the proposals to the Constitution are;

1. Sinhala language shall be the state language of Sinhaladeepa,

2. English language shall be the coordinating language internationally,

3. Abolish Provincial Council system and re-introduce the former Government Agent, GA mechanism with suitable improvements to suite with present scenario,

4. Buddhism shall be the state religion of Sinhaladeepa

5. The national flag used in 1815 in Kandy shall be the National flag of the Sinhaladeepa

Representative of SJP headed by its Secretary General Mr. Jayantha Liyanage handed over copies of their proposals of the Constitution to Most Venerable Maha Nayake Theros in Getembe Raja Maha Viharaya and Asgiriya Chapter.
