Sri Lanka takes strong objection to the imposition of travel restrictions on Lt. Gen. Silva and his immediate family by the US
The Government of the United States has imposed travel restrictions on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and Acting Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva and his immediate family members, which is an extremely unfortunate decision especially considering the strong bilateral partnership that exist between the U.S. and Sri Lanka.
The Government of Sri Lanka seek valuable support from its citizens in expressing concerns on this disappointing decision by the U.S. Government by reaching out to Senators, Congressional members and other relevant Government officials as deemed appropriate.
The Ministry of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka has issued a Media Release in this regard.
