Tamil Catholic Bishop’s Racial Utterances in SriLanka

Over the last few years we are able to observe the influence of the Catholic Bishops utterances in strengthening the racial abomination in SriLanka. Perhaps these Bishops have forgotten their responsibility in the theological standpoint to promote love and peace as per the bible. “Love thy Neighbour”.

What is happening is that the Bishops make political statements, which could be perturbing the minds of the people as well as the Catholic politicians. As far as the world knows, Catholic Bishops/Ayars are expected to perform their duties within the theological sphere and preach Christianity in accordance with the Bible. Bishops/Ayars are expected to be spiritual and not expected to preach violence.

Recently the Bishop/Ayar of Batticaloa, Joseph Ponniah, made a statement that the Tamil People Council is welcoming and is a compulsion at this time for the Tamil people. (Ref: http://battidiocese.org/). It is a loss to understand, where in the Bible does it explain about Peoples Council (political) for political activities. Tamils in general, are in greed for power, wealth, and popularity, and will struggle to any level within their capability to be popular, without addressing the basic needs of the people.

The whole of SriLanka knows that Bishop/Ayar Rayappu Joseph of Mannar was involved with the LTTE, the terrorist outfit. Bishop of Jaffna also gets up from sleep and makes impulsive statements, which disturbs the minds of the people.

Addressing the quality of the Hindu Priests in SriLanka: The Hindu Priests in SL are well mannered, very well behaved spiritually, collectively, communally, and socially. They confine themselves to the Hindu doctrine, spirituality, Temple activities and Poojas. It cannot be pin pointed that anyone of the Hindu Priests, has been involved in political activity, or made any racial statement, or made any statement(s) which could strengthen racial abomination in SL.

However, in India it is the not the case. Most Hindu Priests have been involved with murder, sex and frauds.

Hence we have to praise the Hindu Priests, particularly in SriLanka, and Hats Off to them.

It is a request that Tamil politicians should never, ever, instigate Catholic Bishops/Ayars to involve themselves in politics and terrorism. Catholic Priests should confine themselves to Spiritual activity and work within their dogmatic area.

Indian Hindu Priests and Catholic Bishops/Ayars should learn lots of lessons from the SriLankan Hindu Priests.
