Tamil Officials Obstruct Sajith’s Housing Project in Jaffna for Sinhalese
Sources reported that Tamil government ministerial officials are taking very lethargic approach to proposed housing development project for the Internally Displaced Sinhala People in Jaffna. Around fifty Internally Displaced Sinhala families are partly settled in Nawakkuliaya Village in Jaffna, 9km from Jaffna city along the A9 road toward Kandy.
These Sinhala people are living in a very appealing conditions despite of end of the war and highly publicized Yahapalanaya and Sahajeewanaya environment under the so called Sanhindiyawa. Although both Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe and President Sirisena has visited and toured Jaffna number of times to look after the life and comfort of Tamils living in North not a single visit has been made by two Sahajeewanaya champions to Nawakkuliya Sinhala village and Buddhist Vihara to inspect the plight of those poor Sinhala people who were one time rich and well to do businessmen in Jaffna city chased out by LTTE Tamil Terrorists and racist Tamil politicians during Tamil terrorism war.
The Nawakkuliya village is lacking with basic infrastructure like drinking water, internal roads, street lighting, a school so on. More importantly, lack of housing is a major issue for those Internally Displaced Sinhala People. While Yahapalana government is working round clock to provide proper infrastructure and shelter for those Internally Displaced Tamil people and for the families of the LTTE Tamil terrorists no similar efforts had yet been taken to provide such basic needs to Internationally Dispatched Sinhala people in Nawakkuliya and in Eastern province as well.
Ministry of Housing has taken a very preliminary survey of the shelters that are required for the Nawakkuliya Village. However, due to the typical racist approach and lethargic attitude toward the Sinhala people by the Tamil government officials working Jaffna no progress has been made of this project to date.
