Tamil Politicians Objected to Traditional Sinhala Fishermen in North and East
With the support of pro-LTTE Tamil terrorist’s politicians, Federation of Mulathiv District Fishermens Associations and its Tamil members lead by Antonypillai Mariyathas, and local TNA members are obstructing the day to day business of Sinhala fishermen who traditionally fishing in Eastern and Northern coasts. During the Tamil terrorism, LTTE Tamil terrorist killed thousands of Sinhala fishermen and chased away them from Eastern coast, in particularly Nayaruoya, Dollar farm areas.
Following the wiped out of LTTE Tamil terrorism from Sri Lanka in May 2009 more than thousand of Sinhalese belonging to over 300 Sinhala families have now returned to their traditional fishing villages in Northern and Eastern two provinces.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development has been providing fishing permits to these fishermen and protection has been provided by the security forces to protect them from racial attacks from extremist Tamils and Pro-LTTE Tamil terrorists.
Following request by the Sinhala fishermen and Civil Society Groups, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and his officials are now working to provide necessary permits, equipment’s and other infrastructure which were neglected and overlooked due to pressure mounted by Pro-LTTE TNA and Tamil extremists.
