The Organisation for the Defence of Sinhale
The Hindu July 11th 2015The Organisation for the Defence of Sinhalé hold a demonstration in front of the Sri Lanka High Commission on Saturday 1st August 2015 from 2.00 pm – 5.30 pm to organise opposition, both among the international Sinhala diaspora as well as in the whole of Sinhalé (currently unlawfully called “Sri Lanka”), against prime minister Wickremasinghe’s above-quoted proposals which are perverse and unlawful for the following reasons:
Despite being the prime minister, Mr Ranil Wickremasinghe is apparently unaware that:
(i). Sinhalé (currently unlawfully called “Sri Lanka”) is the motherland of the Sinhala Nation. Thus, it would be a gross violation of the rights of the Sinhala nation for anyone to suggest that the Sinhala motherland, should be partitioned (he uses the term ‘devolution’ to downplay its gravity) to create an ‘additional motherland’ for Tamil immigrants.
(ii). When Al Quaeda agents killed 3,000 Americans by blowing up the Twin Towers, it was not referred to by Americans as an ‘ethnic conflict’ but as a terrorism. Accordingly, Ranil Wickremasinghe’s description of the 27-year Tamil terrorism – in which more than 100,000 (30 times more than at the Twin Towers) Sinhala men, women and children were brutally murdered by the terrorists – as an ‘ethnic conflict’ reflects a traitorous manipulation of the English language to downplay the Tamil terrorist atrocities and mislead the world public.
(iii). The immigrant Tamil population in Sinhalé is currently less than 3.99% (See World Facts). To hand-over control of the whole North and East of the Island which comprise nearly one-third of the country – a disproportionately high amount of land to be given to such a tiny 3.99% immigrant minority population – as Wickremasinghe proposes, therefore grossly discriminates against the rights of the indigenous majority Sinhala nation who constitute more than 79% of the population. Wickremasinghe’s proposal, therefore, reveals a gross ignorance of the Constitution of Sri Lanka and violates (among others) Article 12 of the Constitution which prohibits discrimination.
(iv). It also reveals his ignorance that immigrant ethnic communities do not have rights to demand parts of the territory of the countries they migrate to. Otherwise Tamils could also demand additional ‘motherlands’ in South Africa, Malaysia, UK, USA, Canada, France, Australia and other countries to which they have migrated in large numbers using fraudulent claims
In the context it is supremely ironical that he claims that his unlawful proposal is aimed at the pursuit of ‘good governance and democracy’.
