TNA back empty hand from India

India has turned down a Tamil National Alliance (TNA),pro-LTTE Tamil terrorist political party’s request for the appointment of a special envoy to resolve the so called ethnic question in Sri Lanka.   TNA leader R. Sampanthan who recognised the LTTE terrorists are the leader of Tamil people is said to have made this request when he met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but sources said the Indian leader had not responded positively to this request at all rather shown very negative and expressed his displeasure toward pro-LTTE terrorist TNA team.

The TNA had reportedly said that the 13th Amendment which was enforced by force by India to the Constitution of Sri Lanka was insufficient as a power sharing arrangement with the Tamil people in the North and East two provinces. The TNA delegation had stressed the need for the re-merger of the Northern and Eastern provinces again which was temporarily merged by then president J R Jayawardana 1989 and was de-merged by President Rajapaksa 2006.

The TNA delegates had explained to the Indian leaders the initiatives taken in the past to evolve a political solution to the ethnic question. They cited the appointment of a Parliamentary Select Committee headed by Minister Mangala Munasinghe, the political package introduced by former President Chandrika Kumaratunga and the All Party Representatives Committee (APRC) appointed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa leaders the initiatives taken in the past to evolve a political solution to the national question.

The TNA said all political proposals made were based on the devolution of power beyond the 13th Amendment.

However, Sri Lanka wanted to scrap the so called 13th Amendment as it is paying the path to separatism in Sri Lanka and open the avenue for Indians to interfere with Sri Lankan affairs.
