UN Day of Vesak celebrations in Melbourne, Australia
UN day of Vesak was celebrated in Melbourne on 24th May 2014. Buddhists from Australia and hundreds of Buddhists from other countries such as Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Laos, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia ,Singapore, Hong Kong, Tibet, Japan and Bangladesh took part in offering of Dana to nearly 70 members of Maha Sangha representing all traditions . In the afternoon a colorful pageant with Sri Lankan and Vietnamese drummers followed by the members of Maha Snagha , floats of Buddha statues and devotees traversed the Collins Street , Melbourne Central to the Town Hall. At the Melbourne town hall, Vesak meeting was held with sermons , talks , meditation practices and musical events depicting the life of Buddha
