Vijayagrahanaya Celebration
The ceremony to commemorate thousands of service personnel who laid down their lives to save the motherland from the LTTE Tamil terrorism was held in Colombo and worldwide under the patronage of Global Sri Lankan Forum.
Family members of the those who made the supreme sacrifice for the Motherland participated in this ceremony. Ceremonies to commemorate war veterans who saved the country from the scourge of terrorism were held at provincial level during the past few years until so-called Yahapalayana came to power on 8th January of 2015.
The main event was planned to held in Independent Square of Colombo, Sri Lanka which had been jointly organized by Global Sri Lankan Forum, Federation of National Organizations, and Ranaviru Foundation. However, at the last minute, the Yahapalana government lead by minority mind-set pro-federalist Ranil and Sirisena forced to cancel the event by revoking the approval granted to Independent Square ground in Colombo.
The organizers however conducted the Ranaviru Vijayagrahanaya event on 20th May 2017 in front of Buddha Statue in Vihara maha devi Park.
