Mangala attempts to oxygenate the LTTE proxy groups! 

The nation and security forces must protest this move against Mangala!

Sri Lankans both Sinhalese and Tamils has expressed surprise by plans by Ranil and Maithripala  to legalize the LTTE Tamil terrorist again. The LTTE terrorists operate overseas through cover organizations taking the face of diaspora organizations. Sri Lankans and Tamils are questioning the recent statement by minister of external affairs pro-LTTE Mangala Samaraweera seeking to de proscribe the LTTE terrorist entities.

Canada was the single biggest support base of LTTE. The LTTE operatives in Canada disseminated false propaganda, raised funds and procured weapons. The terrorist supporters created World Tamil Movement (WTM), and when Canada banned WTM, the LTTE leaders in Canada created WTM’s successor, the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC). After the LTTE was defeated in May 2009, Nediyawan in Oslo created National Council of Canadian Tamils (NCCT) to revive the LTTE. With attempts to revive the LTTE, under the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR 1373), WTM, CTC and NCCT were designated as terrorist organizations on April 1, 2014.

In addition to WTM, CTC and NCCT, the LTTE also advanced its interests through the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) and the Tamil Youth Organization (TYO). For example, WTM, CTC and TRO raised funds to buy weapons from North Korea. In 2006 Director of Communications of Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) Sahilal Sabaratnam a student of the University of Toronto.  Sathajhan Sarachandran and 8 others were arrested by Federal Bureau of Investigation for trying to purchase Russian-made missiles and firearms worth $1 million for the LTTE. The FBI had identified Sahilal as the financial mastermind of the operation. They were sentenced to 25 and 26 years in prison, respectively.

In 2006, 4 Tamil-Americans with TRO, including the chief of the American branch of the LTTE, which operated through charitable front organisations, Karunakaran Kandasamy, were arrested for material support for LTTE, including purchase of arms and ammunition. They had attempted to bribe US Justice of Dept officials with $1 million in exchange for removing LTTE from FBI’s list of banned terrorist organizations. They pled guilty for the charges and sentenced to maximum 20 years in prison. The LTTE chief in the US Kandasamy was also the head of the World Tamil Coordinating Committee (WTCC). His associate Danton Thurairajah is the current Executive Director of the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC), masquerading as an innocuous diaspora organization.

Why is Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of External Affairs, planning to de proscribe the terrorist fronts? Is it ignorance or ulterior motive? By compromising Sri Lankan national security, is the motivate to get votes and funds from sympathizers and supporters of the LTTE? Reconciliation with the Tamils is what all Sri Lankans want but what exactly is Mangala planning to achieve by empowering the weakened LTTE? The LTTE military capabilities were destroyed by the Sri Lankan security forces at great cost but LTTE network overseas that supported the LTTE killers in Sri Lanka is still intact! Why is Mangala planning give oxygen to the LTTE international network? It will inevitably lead to the revival of the LTTE and another cycle of violence!
