To the Sinhala Nationalist People

We are living in an era where Sinhala national identity is needed more than ever before — an era where we must stand together more strongly for it.

A Sinhala nationalist nurtured by the teachings of Buddhism has never planned to suppress or oppress any other nation, nor to forcibly assimilate them into Sinhala society. If anyone is planning such a thing, it will be futile, because within the understanding-based and birth-based Sinhala Buddhist identity, there is no room for anyone else. That is why Buddhism is absent in forced or conspiratorial conversions. To put it plainly, within Sinhala Buddhist nationalism there is no taking away what belongs to others.

However, the moment anyone lays a hand on our heritage, the Sinhala nationalist will not hesitate to break all ranks, responsibilities and bonds and fight for it. No matter how many obstacles, how much deceit, how much treachery and heartbreak are caused, no matter how much neglect and injustice is done — there is no force in this world that can eradicate Sinhala nationalism from this great earth. That is the strength of all our ancestors who walked here before us.

Therefore, O Sinhala nationalist people, come forward without fear. Every inch of this country was built by your hands. That right, that heritage, belongs to you. All that is needed is to reach out your hands. Let us stand together as one.
