We will get what we want from Maithripala – Pro-LTTE Terrorist Rayappu Joseph

The Bishop of Mannar pro-LTTE Tamil terrorist Rev. Rayappu Joseph expressed confidence that the Tamil community would be able to win their rights from the common Opposition Candidate Maithripala Sirisena. After a discussion with Maithripala Sirisena, Rayappu said he was hopeful that the Tamil demands, which were rejected by the Government could be fulfilled from a future Government headed by Maithripala Sirisena who has the support from LTTE backed TNA and SLMC.

Rayappu Joseph said that a solution to Tamil issue cannot be expected from the Sinhalese and the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) should work together and find a solution.

“Instead of an Eelam, we need a solution where the Tamil people could have autonomy and take their own decisions without living under the dictates of others”, the Mannar Bishop said.

Although the Government claimed that everything except elam has been given to the Tamil people, the fact is nothing has been given to the Tamil people, he said. However I am hopeful we could get from Maithripala Sirisena what was denied to us by the Government, the controversial Bishop said.

It may be recalled that Bishop Rayappu Joseph said last year that an international investigation into alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka was required. After he made that statement, the Catholic Church said it was not the stance of the Catholic community. Rev. Benedict Joseph, speaking regarding the letter sent to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR) by a group of priests headed by  Bishop Rev. Rayappu Joseph, clarified that His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo had already established that the Catholic community believes that Sri Lanka should understand and implement the recommendations made by the report of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).
