LTTE Tamil Terrorist Heroes’ Day Failure – Churches leads the Remembrance – Tamil public boycotted the event

With the amidst of tight security by Sri Lankan military and the police  and law enforcement court orders, the so called LTTE Tamil terrorists heroes’ day remembrance was failure and the majority of Tamil public boycott the event. The so called Tamil terrorist heroes’ day set to celebrate the birthday of the LTTE Tamil terrorist leader Prabakaran on 27th Nov. each year.

Tamil public has boycotted to celebration of the birthday of the terrorist leader stating that Prabakaran and LTTE are responsible of death of many thousands of Tamil boys, girls, men and women. Further, they said, the destruction made by LTTE Tamil terrorists to the Tamil society and Tamil culture is immerses and they should be prosecuted than celebrated.

It is noticed that no many Hindu Temples were associated with the so called Tamil terrorist heroes’ day celebrations. However, the Christian church has led the celebrations in North and East two provinces within their church premises as private fictions.

 A Catholic priest, Fr. S. Baskaran, who is the principal of St. Martin’s seminary has conducted Tamil terrorists heroes’ day remembrance at the entrance of the seminary, located near the Bishop’s House in Jaffna. The Bishop of Jaffna has not taken any actions against priest Baskaran yet.

Catholic Tamil priests  had organized tree planting campaign to mark Tamil terrorist heroes day  in Mannarama on 27  November 2020 and Sri Lankan police has engaged with the their duties for law enforcement in this illegal act.

Pro-LTTE Tamil terrorists TNPF Parliamentarian Selvarajah Kajendran has organized celebration of LTTE Tamil terrorists’ day in his office with the Christian church.

Sri Lankan Police and soldiers were deployed in the public places, junctions and along the road to avoid any glorifications of Tamil terrorism and Tamil separatism in North and East two provinces.


Sri Lankan Military deployed at Kanakapuram Tamil terrorist former cemetery in Kilinochchiya. The terrorists’ cemetery was completely removed by the SL military after wiping-out the LTTE Tamil terrorists in May 2009

Many pro-LTTE Tamil terrorists’ Tamil politicians has organized so-called Tamil heroes ‘day to glorify and remembrances of the Tamil terrorists in North.

Former pro-LTTE TNA Parliamentarian P. Ariyanethran marks so called Tamil eelam heroes day at his residence in Madakalapuwa.

The court has issued interim injunctions against organizing or taking part in so called Tamil eelam heroes’ day remembrance as it is glorifying the terrorism and separatism in Sri Lanka. Moreover, LTTE is a banned terrorist organization in Sri Lanka.

The court has named the event as a political activity to glorifying the terrorism and separatism. The court has issued the injunctions under Prevention of Terrorism Act (No. 48 of 1979) – Section 15.  The injunctions were listing a long list of prohibited activities, which included among others from the use of photos of LTTE terrorists, LTTE Tamil terrorists’ symbols, flag, posters etc.

Furthermore, the court ordered a range of other legal provisions such as Section 79(2) and 79(3) of Police Ordinance No. 16 of 1865 and the  “International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights Act 56 of 2007”, Section 3(1) and 3(2) and  the  Quarantine and Prevention of Disease Ordinance No 3 of 1897.
